Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
Our school has enjoyed a very positive start to Term 3. Our classes currently have a strong focus on the Olympics. We have held an activities day with students dressing in the green and gold, students have completed HASS, English, Maths and Art projects connecting the Olympics to learning and curriculum.
Attendance is always an issue as winter progresses and illness is inevitable. It is vital that when students are well, they are at school. Every day of learning is vital and if students are well it is very important that they are at school. If there are any barriers to student attendance, please contact us for support to resolve them.
We continue to implement the DECYP lifting literacy priority at Campbell Town. All students in Tasmania will be undertaking a new suite of reading assessments called DIBELS. This assessment provides the staff with key data about student strengths and specific information that can be used to address deficits and improve student literacy.
You may have noticed significant works occurring at the front of the school. This work will provide a new footpath and bus bays that will increase student safety at the bus stop. The street is relatively quiet and that can lead to a fairly casual attitude to crossing the road. It is vital that we keep all of our students safe by reminding them to use the pedestrian crossing and pay attention to crossing the road safely.
Our new agriculture building is also progressing well and is on schedule for completion in November. We have a number of exciting learning activities lined up for this term including Science Week activities, Write a Book in a Day, Antarctic Classroom, Book Week and a number of other exciting learning activities.
We will be holding another parent/teacher evening later in the term, please feel free to contact our staff at any time to discuss student learning and wellbeing.
Kind Regards
Mike
On Friday the 26th of July Prep students travelled to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary as part of our Living Things science unit. Amy, the wildlife keeper gave us a tour including sharing special information about the wombats, devils and echidnas. We particularly enjoyed patting the wombat and feeding the Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
