Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
Many of you would have noticed the progress of our new Agriculture building adjacent to our oval. Work on this building is progressing well and is scheduled for completion in the first week of November. The building will be utilised by students in all grades for Food and Fibre and Agriculture Programs. There will be areas adjacent to the building to house small numbers of stock for short periods of time.
Our students have been working on entries for the Campbell Town Show in painting and drawing, craft, creative writing and cooking. Many of these pieces are also being used for assessment against the year level curriculum. Jill Bennett has commenced training with our wool handling team who will also be representing us at the show. Our students will be visiting the show on Friday 31st of May.
We are holding a ‘Big Freeze’ for MND next Thursday. A number of our staff are up for a very cold dunking. Please get behind this great cause.
Parent Teacher Interviews will commence on Monday 17th of June. We will also be sharing evidences of learning with parents. Students are very welcome to participate in the interviews if their parents wish them to do so. We highly value this opportunity to share the learning and progress of our students with their families and we extend a warm welcome to all parents. Further information regarding interview bookings will be communicated to parents/guardians soon.
We are very excited to welcome Mr Richard Reed to our staff. Mr Reed has extensive experience teaching Automotive, Metal Trades and Mathematics to secondary students. He is qualified to teach and assess students in Nationally recognised VET certificate courses. Mr Reed will commence at the school on Monday 27th May preparing for courses that will start before the end of this term. We are really excited to be able to offer vocational pathways in Automotive and Metal Trades. We also welcome University Students Gabriella Schluter and Hannah Ferrall to our staff for their Professional Practice in Teaching.

The Year 11/12 cohort have hit the ground running in Term 2.
The community Sport and Recreation class have been researching individual sports and have made use of the local sporting talents of Mike Flanagan (Taekwondo) and David Gatenby (Tennis) as well as other sports further afield. Students relished the opportunity to spar with the Principal.
The Art class, as part of their Street Art unit, has received some instruction on painting with Tasmanian Street Artist James from Kreamart who will be taking on the underpass project.

A big thank you to the following people who have donated feed and hay for the school wethers.
Peter Barbar and Winton Estate for a large bale of lucerne hay.
Sam Lyne, Riccarton for several bags of barley.
Madeliene Scott for bales of pasture hay.
David Taylor, Kenilworth for several bags of barley.
Our wethers are slowly putting on weight. They have enjoyed the green pasture that has been available for them. Handling has commenced with the sheep being haltered and tied up. They are learning to respond to pressure and getting used to having students around them. The wethers are enjoying their daily feeds of chaff and grain. Sadly they don’t seem too keen on apples though.
It has been great to have many classes contributing to this months challenge and learning about the mouth of the sheep. Thank you all for your contributions.
