PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear families,
Welcome to the end of Week 8. It’s incredible how fast the terms are slipping by.
We held a School Association meeting earlier this week. Main discussion points were around the recent External School Review and home-school communications. I am keen to hear perspectives from our families about the efficiency of our communication with you, whether it be seeking permission for excursions, sharing operational information or sharing information about student learning and progress.
On the theme of valuing family feedback and voice, the Family Satisfaction Survey is still active. Please see the email I sent you today or previous communications for the link. The survey should not take more than 10 minutes, and I would very much value your contribution.
There is a wonderful gallery in today’s newsletter featuring the recent netball finals. I was pleased to be able to attend the grand finals, with Mr Flanagan too, to see the lovely way students worked together and supported each other, and to join in on the celebrations.
The Learning Showcase yesterday afternoon is one of my highlights of the year, no doubt. Thank you for your attendance. It was fabulous to see the enthusiasm and pride with which our young people showed their families their work and their classrooms. I want to thank all staff involved as well as our brave students who agreed to participate in the invitation video which you can view on our Facebook page.
Families, many of you know that we are working through some complex student matters at the moment. Some inappropriate and uncooperative behaviour from some young people has been evident at the end of the day a few times recently, which is frustrating for everyone and I know concerning for some.
I want to reassure that the school is taking all appropriate actions to manage this situation (which includes liaison with others in our Department and other Departments too). I invite you to speak to me directly if you would like to talk these matters through. Please understand that I will maintain student confidentiality in these conversations.
Finally, we are planning another action-packed final day of term. Please keep your eyes out for further details, but I can reveal now that we will have a Big Breakfast for all students and families, a Colour Run after lunch, a Mental Health Expo throughout the day and students will be able to wear sports colours throughout the day.
David Bryant,
Acting Principal
